Bring emotional balance back into your life with Aromatherapy

Hello Everyone,

I hope you are doing well. My apologies for the absence of a blog post for a few days. I started this post 3 days ago, but my hectic life got in the way before I could finish it!

I know most of us need emotional balance brought back into our lives. It may just mean that you need relief from moodiness, irritability, to ease tension, etc. Well there is an all natural way to do so. Have you heard of Aromatherapy? I’m sure most of you have. Did you know that doing Aromatherapy is a great way to get that emotional balance back?

Why are essential oils used in Aromatherapy?

*The natural properties found in essential oils produce an uplifting and soothing effect on emotions and the mind. Their properties can have an effect on emotional wellness by being calming and uplifting for a wide range of emotional embalances. Essential oils are calming to the nervous system and have the power to reach deep into the psyche and to uplift the spirit and relax the mind because they affect the limbic system of the brain.

Before I get into what doTERRA essential oils to use in Aromatherapy I am going to point you in the direction of some diffusers to use. doTERRA does offer two diffusers or you can purchase diffusers through the internet. I personally use the ones offered by doTERRA but there are some cheaper ones out there: i.e. here or here.

Wild Orange: Can help instill a positive attitude, helps to dispel moodiness and irritability, provides emotional balance, ease tension and frustration.

Bergamot: Can be relaxing, yet also uplifting. Relieves nervous depression and anxiety. Encourages release of pent-up feelings, which if not releases can lead to emotional distress such as insomnia, anxiety, mood swings, and depression. Bergamot helps to impart feelings of relaxation and letting go. It can also help with addictive behavior.

Chamomile: Can help to relieve any kind of nervous stress and help ease feelings of frustration and resentment. Its warm fragrance can leave you with a sense of satisfaction.

Eucalyptus: Traditionally used for decongestion and breathing, this oil can also help to give a more positive outlook and revive the spirits. It can help give relief if you are feeling “boxed in” or constricted by your personal situation and can help dispel the negative emotions connected to those situations.

Frankincense: Its most important action is to help the nervous system. Because it has the ability to both relax and revitalize. It is excellent for treating nervous exhaustion and nervous tension. It is wonderful for treating depression because it can help in uplifting the mood. It can also help when there are feelings of distraction or overwhelming thoughts.

Ginger: Can relieve feelings of tension, frustration, irritability and moodiness. It can help reduce appetite, especially helpful for “stress eaters” who eat as a means of dealing with difficult emotions.

Lavender: Helpful to calm and stabilize, release pent-up energy. Can also relieve feelings of hysteria and panic and ease nervous tension. May also calm nervous anxiety that results in shyness or embarrassment. It is very calming and relaxing and excellent for inducing a restful night’s sleep.

Lemon: Calms, lightens moods, eases worry, and helps a mind bogged down with decisions, obstacles and burdens. May also encourage security and trust. As with other citrus oils, its crisp clean aroma is very uplifting.

Melissa: Helps with restlessness, nervous agitation, and insomnia. It is especially important for depression and for those who don’t respond well to pressure. It is also quite effective for anxious depression.

Sandalwood: Is very relaxing and helps to calm the mind chatter that can most often cause insomnia. Provides relief from stress and depression and helps to induce a restful nights sleep.

The following are proprietary blends created by doTERRA:

Citrus Bliss: Elevates mood and reduces stress with the powerful aromas of Wild Orange, Lemon, Grapefruit, Mandarin, Tangerine, Bergamot, Clementine and a hint of Vanilla. This one is “Pure happiness in a bottle”

Where have I been all month & What Was I Doing?

Hello Everyone,

I’m back! I know I’ve been MIA for awhile so sorry I was in full doTERRA mode and out sharing the oils with others. I have a full line up of post scheduled for this week so stick around!

So lets take a look at what I have been up to last month! The month started off with a doTERRA Regional Training in Los Angeles, California which turned into a mini family vacation.

The training was an amazing opportunity to learn more from doTERRA founders & leaders. I am so happy that I chose to attend. I will share some of the things I learned at training with you in a later post. One thing I do want to share with you today is one of the new products that was launched at said training.

I’m not going to bore you with anymore family vacation photos but these were 3 of the places I enjoyed the most on our mini family vacation.

Two weeks later it was full doTERRA mode again. My dear friend and doTERRA up-line Jessica flew in from Arizona to help me at my first ever doTERRA booth!

Are you familiar with Artichokes? Are you aware that there is a large artichoke festival in California every year?

That’s right: that festival is in Castroville, California which means yours truly was in attendance. Not only did we get to enjoy yummy food made with artichokes but we were able to share doTERRA with some wonderful people and make some great new contacts.

I really enjoyed doing the booth and I can’t wait to do another one. There are some amazing events & festivals in my area and I hope to one day have a booth at all of them. I mean who wouldn’t want to take part in events at the Laguna Race Way or maybe the annual car shows or maybe even a golf tournament at Pebble Beach?

Essential Oil are for everyone: Including Horses

Hello everyone,

I hope your had a wonderful weekend and a great Saint Patrick’s Day! Today we are going to introduce you to essential oil usage for horses! Yes, essential oils really are for everyone!

I may not have a horse at this point in my life but I did grow up around them, as a child in a ranching family I was horseback most days. I do miss having such a wonderful, powerful companion and hope to one day have another horse. I want my son to grow up around them as I did. So for those of you with horses keep reading to learn how to use essential oils on your horses. I will be using doTERRA Essential oil names in this blog (I honestly would not use any other brand; doTERRA essential oils are 100% pure and doTERRA does several independent test to confirm that each batch is 100% pure, free of synthetics, pesticides, etc.)

Lets start off with a few quick tips:

* Horses are sensitive despite their size; use the same dosage for a horse as for an adult human. Less for pregnant mares, Shetlands & toy breeds. (Usual application for adult humans is 1-2 drops)

* Follow the directions in your reference book, I recommend purchasing the Modern Essentials Guide.

* The oils do not build up in the systems like drugs do; reapply the oils as needed

* Avoid getting oils in the eyes, flush eyes with milk if needed

Here are a few of the favorite essential oils to use: 

* Frankincense: Anxiety, Colitis, Inflammation, Infections, Insect/Snake bites, Scarring, Tumors, Warts

*Helichrysum: Bleeding, Liver Issues, Nerve Damage, Wound Care

* Lavender: Abscesses, Anxiety, Allergies, Burns, Conjunctivitis, Inflammation, Tumors, Vertigo, Wound Care

* Lemon: Anxiety, Electrolyte Balance, Immune Boost, Infections, Lymph function, Hoof Strength

* Melaleuca: Colds, Hoof Rot, Lice, Mites, Rain Rot, Ringworm, Strep, Staph, Wound Care

* Melissa: Anxiety, Chronic Cough, Depression, Flu, Herpes, Immune Support

* Oregano: bronchitis, Colds, Hoof Rot, Infections, MRSA, Ringworm, Strep, Staph

Here are a few recipes for everyday use: 

Cool-Down Mist:  In a 16oz. spray bottle put 6-8 drops of Peppermint, Aroma Touch or Breathe. Fill the remainder of the bottle with distilled water. Spray the horse & make sure to avoiding the eyes when spraying the face. Reapply as needed.

Flies/Mosquitoes/Bots:  Mist: In a 16oz. spray bottle put 6-8 drops Lemongrass or Purify, and fill with distilled water. Lightly spray horse, avoiding the eyes. Reapply as needed for prevention. Oils: Apply TerraShield (no dilution required) to pasterns, around eyes, on nose, and to other trouble areas or in a 4oz. glass bottle, put 20  drops of Lemongrass, 20 drops Patchouli, 20 drops Eucalyptus, & 20 drops Thyme. Fill the remaining space with fractionated coconut oil. Lightly spray or rub down troubled areas to repel insects and prevent bites and bot infestation.

Sore Muscle Brace/Competition Brace Oil (Try this for Laminitis): In a 4oz. glass bottle, put 40 drops Aroma Touch, 20 drops Lemongrass, 20 drops Frankincense & 10 drops Thyme. Fill the remaining space with fractionated coconut oil. Spray or rub down; wrap as usual.

Super Defense Blend

Hello everyone,

Today I am going to share with you a recipe for a SUPER DEFENSE BLEND which was created by Connie Boucher, LMT, Independent Product Consultant and was featured in doTERRA’s Living Magazine!

You will need to combine the essential oils listed in an empty 15ml bottle (it will make a full bottle). This blend may be taken internally in a capsule by adults to help combat sickness and also to build the immune system.

FOR CHILDREN: fill a glass roller-bottle 2/3rds full of the Super Defense blend and then fill to the top with a carrier oil such as fractionated coconut oil.

Application: Rub on the bottoms of your feet daily as a preventative measure!

Oils Needed: 

32 drops of CLOVE

32 drops of THYME

32 drops of OREGANO

32 drops of EUCALYPTUS

24 drops of CINNAMON

24 drops of LEMON

24 drops of ROSEMARY

16 drops of FRANKINCENSE

16 drops of MYRRH

12 drops of PATCHOULI

16 drops of MELISSA

Quick Tips for the home: 

Place a few drops of your favorite essential oil onto a small piece of terry cloth and toss it into the dryer while clothes are drying. Add 5 drops essential oil to 1/4 fabric softer or water and place in the center cup of the washer.

Put a few drops of your favorite essential oil on a cotton ball and place into your vacuum cleaner bag or bag-less container. Lemon and Purify are great & Geranium helps with pet odors.

Place 1 to 2 drops of sleep-enhancing oils such as Lavender or Serenity on your pillow before going to bed for a restful sleep!

Have mice in your home? Place several drops of Peppermint oil on a cotton ball and place in problem locations.

Managing Your Mood Matrix with Essential Oils

Hello Everyone,

I hope your week is off to a great start! Today I will be introducing you to 4 oils that you can use to manage your mood.

Why should you use essential oils for mood management? 

With almost 60 million American adults facing depression and anxiety disorders, essential oils can be a great natural solution without harmful side effects. In addition with an increase in diagnosis of children with depression, essential oils can be a safe alternative to harmful medications.

Numerous studies demonstrate the benefits of AROMA. Smell, almost more than any other sense, has the ability to dredge up memories, change moods or ease tension. 4. To obtain Reassurance, consoling or to obtain a grounding feeling the essential oil blend Balance is recommended: It balances the body, helps with anxiety, attention deficit, nervousness & is very grounding.
